To the citizens of Santa Fe County:
I want to introduce myself: I am Greg Solano, a lifelong Santa Fe resident and a 1982 graduate of Santa Fe High School and the Santa Fe Vocational-Technical School. I attended some courses at Santa Fe Community College, Santa Fe Computer College, and graduated from the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.
As a Santa Fe police officer, I was promoted to detective in the juvenile division after two years on the job and assigned to handle gang-related cases. I taught courses on gang recognition and intervention to city and state police and was a member of the New Mexico Street Gangs Task Force. I was promoted to sergeant in 1993 and served as a board member, vice president and president of the Santa Fe Police Officers Association (the City Police Union), president of the Fraternal Order of Police. I have been married to Antoinette Solano for 24 years and we have two children, Aaron age 21 and Sylvia age 15.
On November 5, 2002 I was elected Sheriff of Santa Fe County. I took office on January 1, 2003 and have worked hard to implement many of the ideas and issues discussed with residents during the campaign. In 2006 I was re-elected to a second four term and began that term on January 1, 2007. I ask for your help to make Santa Fe County a safe place for all of us. Please get involved in your community through neighborhood watch, or by just calling us when you see illegal or suspicious activity. When you see a deputy drives by wave and say hello. We have increased deputies patrolling your neighborhood more often and when you see them be sure and say hello and introduce yourself. The more our deputies get to know you and you get to know them the better for us all. Please feel free to call my office at 986-2455 with questions, concerns or kudos. You can also email me at shfconcerns@santafecounty.org. Enjoy the rest of the Sheriff’s Office website; we are trying to provide you with as much useful information as possible.
